Hello! I am Kellijett Murphrey!

I aspire to become a physician (MD/PhD) with a long-term goal of pursuing a medical academic career in Internal Medicine. I would like to help others by treating patients, teaching students, and conducting research. Through these career goals, I’d like to combine my passions of science and helping others.

My mom & I!

When I was 5 years old, my parents gave me a plastic doctors kit: complete with a stethoscope, a blood pressure cup, and, my personal favorite, a syringe. After giving my parents a couple hundred ‘shots’ and treating them with a band-aid, I was hooked on learning more about medicine!

After that first experience with ‘treating someone’, I have loved learning about how vaccines can impact our immune system, how our body works physiologically, and how we can modify our lifestyle choices to change our health.

My friends & volunteering at a community event!

As I grew up, my love of service to others has blossomed. I started volunteering at my church in middle school. Overtime my volunteer responsibilities grew and I loved it! I was able to lead discussions and help kids better understand complicated concepts they were covering in school. Now as a college student, I have found a more communities that provide opportunities to volunteer and serve those around me. Over this past winter break, my organization was able to help a family finish their house by installing the insulation and drywall in their bathroom.

In my first semesters at Texas A&M University, I have enjoyed learning biology, chemistry, histology, calculus, and more! Being in the university environment has shown me I would love to teach and conduct research at a university like Texas A&M!

Once I complete my undergraduate degree of Biomedical Sciences, I would like to pursue an MD/PhD program, with specialties in Internal Medicine and Public Health, respectively. I have been accepted into the TAMU Medical School’s Partnership for Primary Care Early Assurance Program. This program guarantees me a spot to start medical school in the Fall of 2026, contingent on my continuation of high academic performance.

The University Honors Program is providing me with incredible opportunities to grow and prepare myself for a future in medicine and teaching/research. Studying Honors Courses during my undergraduate career is allowing me to have a deeper and more unique relationship with the knowledge I get to learn.

Being able to conduct research (and potentially write an Undergraduate Thesis) during my undergraduate education would be an incredible experience! I would love to be able to conduct research related in some way to the link between modifying lifestyle choices and a person’s overall health. The Undergraduate Research Capstone would be a fantastic way to learn more about the world of research and would give me a chance to conduct research under the guidance of a Texas A&M faculty member!

The University Honors Program would is helping me achieve my goals of MD/PhD school, while combining my passions of science and helping others along the way.
